Photography

The most important thing in photography is good lighting conditions and a stable posture. Always make sure that you hold the camera correctly to avoid blurred photos. It's best to hold the camera in both hands and stand steady before pressing the shutter button.

With a digital camera, the image quality is the most important thing, especially if you want to edit the images. Other important criteria when buying a digital camera are the power supply, the memory type and size, the zoom and the resolution.

Analogue photography is a phototechnical process. In contrast to digital photography, the photographed motif is printed directly onto coated paper ("film"). In older or special cameras, a photo plate is used as an alternative.
The film is located directly inside the analog camera, as you know it from the past or from instant cameras. When the film is full, it is sent to a photo lab to be developed.

To get the most out of your camera, we recommend the right accessories. These include lenses, camera cases, memory cards and tripods. If you want to shoot professionally, you can also choose from photo studio equipment like flashes, camera filters and much more.

There is no one lens for all cases. Most higher-end cameras will fit a variety of lenses, depending on the application and desired effect. For example, a wide-angle lens can capture larger areas with impressive depth of field. A telephoto lens is suitable for photographing distant subjects.

Photography: find in this category everything you need

Could we consider photography an art? For many, it is, and even more. A job, a hobby. Whether you're an amateur photographer or a professional, you've come to the right category: pricehunter.co.uk has plenty of offers on digital cameras, lenses, studio photography accesories and much more. Let's dive into this exciting world of photography before you start shopping for cheap cameras or camera batteries at the best price: go ahead!

The first thing every photographer needs to know is: how photography works? Digital photography is a process of capturing still images through a camera obscura, very similar to traditional photography, but instead of using photosensitive film and developing chemicals, it captures light through an electronic sensor composed of photosensitive units. Knowing this, we can proceed to start buying the perfect camera for us!

What do I need to get started in photography?

In addition to a camera, we recommend that you get some basic equipment. It's not about having everything, but about knowing what accessories are available, how useful they are and whether they will allow you to improve your photography or try out different techniques.

Digital cameras: some things to know!

Cameras can be classified according to many things: the medium on which the images are stored (analogue or digital), the size of the sensor or film, the size (compact, bridge, DSLR) or also according to the degree of automatism (this rather in the analogue era when there were manual cameras and automatic cameras).

Among the digital cameras we can basically distinguish the following types, which are mainly differentiated by their size, the size of the sensor and their functionalities:

They are the most widespread due to their ease of use. They are small and therefore so is the size of their sensor. This is their main disadvantage.

They are ideal for travelling or taking anywhere because they fit in a pocket.

Although they allow more and more adjustments with this type of camera, creativity is somewhat limited.

Although some have a viewfinder, this is usually more symbolic, and is framed using the screen.

This is the next step up in size. Unlike compact cameras, the sensor of this type of camera is slightly larger, which means an increase in the sharpness and quality of the photos, as well as the possibility of obtaining larger enlargements without losing quality.

They have more features than compact cameras. The lenses are of better quality and usually have a non-interchangeable zoom lens with a longer range than compact cameras.

Some have a viewfinder, also symbolic because they are not reflex (this will be explained in the subject of the viewfinder).

They are ideal cameras for travelling without a lot of gadgets and they allow you to take good quality photos while controlling what you are doing.

The sensor size is significantly larger than in bridge cameras. Therefore the sharpness and quality of the photos is clearly superior.

The main advantages of the DSLR camera are that you can exchange lenses, it has a reflex viewfinder that shows very accurately the final result of the photos, it has more features that allow you to be much more creative and control more accurately the process of taking a photo.

They have a multitude of accessories and allow for enlargements on quality paper of a larger size than bridges and compacts. There is a very wide range of DSLR models, with a big difference between basic and professional models.

DSLR cameras can be used for both amateur and professional purposes, depending among other things on the range (not everything is about the camera).

  • Medium format

Medium format cameras have a much larger sensor than DSLRs. These are cameras dedicated only to the professional and scientific field where the key is to be able to make really big enlargements. Outside this type of photography, a camera with these characteristics does not make sense.

That is why all the components and accessories are of the highest quality and precision, as well as their prices are very, very high.

The essential part of this type of camera is that it allows the camera to be smaller, more compact, without sacrificing photographic quality. In contrast, reflex systems are still bulky due to the inclusion of the pentaprism and the analogue-sized mirror to the digital sensor. The main complications of Mirrorless cameras are being overcome: focusing and autofocus systems are being perfected; sensors are getting larger, with full frame and even medium format sizes available, and their price is becoming more competitive.

How to choose the perfect camera for me?

When you're a passionate photographer, you don't settle for a mobile phone camera. Rather, you want to choose the best camera. At the same time, you want it to meet all your requirements without having to spend so much on it and thus avoid an unnecessary purchase.

The best thing to do is to first make an analysis of what you will actually use the camera you want to buy. If you want to get the most advanced, you will find many models that could be too expensive for any pocket. Therefore, we will show you some tips that will help you choose the camera you need without spending so much money.

pricehunter.co.uk offers you a wide selection of photography products from various shops and brands at great prices, so you can choose the one that best suits your needs and budget.
