Based in Taissy, near Reims, Maison Thienot was founded in 1985 by Alain Thienot and is now run by his children Garance and Stanislas. The company, which has quickly reached wide popularity, is considered a pioneer in Champagne in the use of winemaking technologies aimed at minimizing the addition of sulphites. The Vintage Champagne of Maison Thiénot is a classic Champenoise blend with a majority of Pinot Noir, the addition of Chardonnay and small parts of Pinot Meunier. To preserve the freshness and aromas of the wine, the vinification takes place in steel vats. The wine then rests for 7 years before being disgorged and released on the market.
