X-shaped figures should go for straight, high-waisted skirts, such as pencil skirts, cigarette trousers or even wrap tops. O-shaped figures are flattered by V or square necklines, a wide belt to accentuate the waist, as well jackets that rest above the hips. If you are V-shaped, you will need to balance out your figure to minimise your shoulders. A pair of bootcut jeans or a skater skirt are perfect, as are flowy t-shirts. On the other hand, if you are an A shape, you will need to accentuate your shoulders and go for tops with frills combined with figure-hugging bottoms. Jackets with epaulets will enhance your shoulders. H-shaped figures will have to cheat to accentuate the waste. To achieve this, they should go for low-waisted jeans or an empire-waist dress. Finally, 8-shaped figures can wear straight and fitted skirts or belted coats. 

Experiment with different cuts, patterns and colours! As a general rule, patterns are eye-catching. Printed tights with unique patterns are therefore a wonderful way to highlight your legs. High-waisted, wide-legged trousers will flatter curvy figures, as will straight or bootcut jeans. Slim-cut and skinny jeans are perfect for slim figures.

Colour also plays an important role in highlighting your skin tone. If you are dark-skinned, you can dare to wear bright, warm colours like fuchsia or orange. Fair skin tones are complemented by pink, coral and royal blue. Remember: the colour that suits you best should be worn close to your face for a wow effect! 

Your lifestyle will also play an important role in choosing your clothes. If you have to run around a lot and risk damaging your look by snagging your stockings (we’ve all been there!), then you should choose a pair of hard-wearing tights and loose clothing.
