While living the rock star lifestyle, he developed a love of fine wine and dining which would eventually spark a radical career change. Upon his return to the United States, Smith founded his very own winery and produced his first 300 cases of wine in 2001 in Washington State’s Walla Walla Valley. Over the past few decades Smith’s wines have been praised by top international winemakers and Smith himself has been named Winemaker of the Year by Food & Wine magazine, Wine Enthusiast, and Seattle Magazine.
