The Totem Cams clamping device has four clamping segments that can be used independently for better holding power in each gap. Thanks to the patented Direct Loading Camming Device System (US patent 7014156), the load is distributed completely balanced across each individual clamping segment. This also reduces the risk of an ineffective clamping segment and corresponding loss of stability of the device. Even if all four clamping segments do not grip on the rock, the Totem Cam is also resilient on only two clamping jaws.
