E-CLIPS- Retaining rings and snap rings are fasteners that grasp elements or installations onto a shaft when assembled in a groove. Once it’s fixed, the exposed piece functions as a shoulder which holds the particular element. MATERIAL- Snap rings or E-Clips are made from very high tensile material carbon steel, they are strong enough to withstand extreme pressure and heat. That is why snap rings used in the assembly of floating pistons hardly fail despite the intense movement of the conrod and the high levels of heat in the chamber. INSTALATION- Slide the E Clip collar onto the bottom of the hinge pin and slide it upward past the grove in the lower portion of the pin. Hold the collar in place until the “E” clips are installed. Align the clips into the grove on the hinge pin and tap the end of the tool with your hand. Release the E Clip Collar.
