The catalytic converter is a honeycomb structure made of metal, which contains valuable metals (palladium, rhodium and platinum) on the surface. These metals convert the toxic carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon in the exhaust gases into non-toxic carbon dioxide and water vapour.
