And this is exactly what Aperol is, a drink invented by Barbieri in the city of Padua in 1019 and later acquired by Campari. Aperol is an infusion of herbs and roots, including bitter orange, rhubarb, gentian and cinchona. This creates a drink similar to Campari but with half the alcohol content (11%) and something that is a little softer and less bitter. Aperol is made to drink neat or as part of a cocktail.
