Artuke El Escolladero 2024

Artuke El Escolladero is a barrel-aged red wine made by Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke with the Tempranillo and Graciano varieties in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. Artuke is an acronym of the names Arturo and Kike. A small project set up by the Blanco brothers who, in line with their family’s hundred-year-old winemaking tradition, decided to make their own wines with strong personalities. With a total of 22 hectares of their own vineyards spread around the towns of Baños de Ebro, Ábalos and San Vicente de la Sonsierra (Rioja Alta), they are part of the Rioja'n'Roll group of producers, who are dedicated to extracting the greatest expression of the terroir in each bottle. Artuke El Escolladero comes from vineyards located in the Alava town of Ábalos at 660 metres above sea level. Named Escollo because of how hard it is to reach the vineyards, this plot contains vines over 60 years old on clay-calcareous soils.
