ÁSTER CRIANZA 2020 - LA RIOJA ALTA

The land is not merely cultivated. It is felt and experienced; and one of the avenues to achieve this is through wine, such as the red Áster. Hailing directly from DO Ribera del Duero, and part of the La Rioja Alta group, this wine embodies the pinnacle of tempranillo through grapes grown within the heart of the appellation, in the Fuentecojo and El Caño plots, at an altitude of approximately 780 metres. These vineyards are situated in close proximity to the winery and were chosen based on the advice of local farmers and viticulturists, who played a crucial role in defining the territorial boundaries of this project. The cultivation is conducted manually, from pruning to harvest, which is carried out in 20-kilogram capacity boxes, meticulously selecting the finest grape clusters. Only the finest make their way to the winery, where they are destemmed and crushed before being transferred to stainless steel tanks where Áster will undergo fermentation for approximately 147 days
