Quercus ilex, the Latin name for the holm oak, is one of the most characteristic species in Mediterranean ecosystems, forming part of the forests of hard, evergreen trees and shrubs adapted to drought. Furthermore, it also evokes profound symbolic meanings related to strength, resilience, and perseverance. Therefore, when Virginie Saverys, owner since 2009 of the renowned Italian winery located in the Tuscany region, Avignonesi, wishes to pay tribute to one of the team's most cherished vineyards called Finca Capezzine, there is no better option than to name it after the great holm oak (Quercus ilex) that presides over the estate. This is how Avignonesi QX Toscana is introduced to us, a rosé wine made from the star variety sangiovese cultivated through biodynamic viticulture, with a firm belief in organic products and homeopathic medicine.
