Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas is a red wine from Calatayud produced by Cooperativa San Alejandro. This wine is a varietal Grenache. The grapes come from vines between 60 and 80 years old. They grow on glass with a natural drainage. The plots are located in mountainous areas between 800 and 1,000 metres above sea level. The soils are stony. The climate is predominantly continental and the average yield is 3,000 kilos per hectare. The grapes are harvested in early October and the clusters, once they have been selected, are fermented in stainless steel tanks for 15 to 25 days at a maximum temperature of 30 °. Baltasar Gracián Viñas Viejas ages finally in French oak barrels of 225 and 500 litres for 10 months. San Alejandro is one of the most renowned wineries in Calatayud. Founded in 1962, the winery has a strong export orientation.
