From The Balvenie's Stories Collection, which pays homage to the whiskymakers and craftspeople behind the dram by bringing their stories to life, A Collection of Curious Casks celebrates the friendship and collaboration between Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Sampling Lead, George Paterson. Laid down by former Malt Master David Stewart, Kelsey discovered these casks and found that the whisky had developed into something incredible afer an 8-year finish in French Pineau casks. Bottled at 47.9% abv. On the nose, there are warming amber tones from toasted oak and delicate spice, alongside smooth butterscotch and hints of ripe berries. The palate holds intriguing layers of spice and rich sweetness on a bed of creamy vanilla, honey and gentle oaky tannins, before leading to a long and lingering finish.
