The Capitan is a climbing helmet by Black Diamond.New from Black Diamond, the Capitan is placed between the Half Dome and the Vision. This helmet makes a compromise between accessibility, durability and safety. The Capitan meets UIAA standards and offers top, back and side head protection. The helmet is built in 3 parts. First of all, a layer of EPP (Expanded Poplypropylene) creates the overall structure of the helmet. As reinforcement, a layer of expanded Polystyrene is placed on the top of the skull where impacts are most likely to occur during climbing.
