Boekenhout (Faurea saligna) is a tree that grows up to 10 or even 20 metres tall in southern Africa and its wood is perfect for making furniture. A typical Cape beech tree in the stunning Franschhoek Valley (South Africa) that Marc Kent wanted to pay homage to when he bought and restored his estate in 1993 and turned it into one of South Africa’s finest wine estates under the name Boekenhoutskloof.
