Today Casa Ferreririnha has a reputation for being the first company in the Porto region to dedicate itself to making dry wines rather than the traditional sweet Ports. The company takes its name from the legendary local businesswoman Dona Antónia Ferreira who played a key role in the Portuguese wine industry during the 19th century. Head winemaker Luis Sottomayor skilfully uses the warm Douro climate to produce generous, well-structured red wines that are carefully balanced with freshness. This bottling is made with grapes sourced from the Quinta da Leda estate which was planted after extensive research with the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro de Vila Real to discover which were the best clones of local grape varieties to use on this site.
