With this Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, the Mazzei family pays tribute to their illustrious ancestor Ser Lapo, author of the first official document mentioning Chianti wine (in 1398), reproduced on the upper part of the label. Produced by the Castello di Fonterutoli estate in its historic vineyard in Castellina in Chianti, in the southern part of the Chianti Classico region, this exceptional Riserva bears witness to the expertise of the Mazzei family, rooted in the Tuscan winemaking tradition for six generations. A pure expression of the local Sangiovese grape, grown on clay-limestone soils and blended with a touch of Merlot, the Ser Lapo 2022 is aged for 12 months in small French oak barrels (50% of which are new). On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe fruit and flowers, with delicate earthy, smoky and spicy notes.
