Château Cos d'Estournel is a wood-aged red wine made with the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties by Château Cos d'Estournel in the AOC Saint-Estèphe, in Bordeaux (France). Château Cos d'Estournel is located on Cos hill (“Cos” meaning “Pebble” in the Gascon language). The property was always scattered, until Louis Gaspard d'Estournel inherited 12 hectares of vineyard and, proud of the wine he made, bought the entire hill in 1811. There he built one of the most unique buildings in the Médoc with oriental influences. Having had various owners, it now belongs to Michel Reybier, who bought the chateau having been drawn in by the winery’s unique and exceptional character. Château Cos d'Estournel comes from vineyards located in the north of the Médoc, in the Saint-Estèphe denomination of origin. Classified as a Bordeaux Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, these vineyards are planted with vines with an average age of 45 years old growing in quaternary gravel soils
