Although vines have been cultivated in the southeastern part of the Rhône region (France) for over a thousand years, it was not until 1973 that the AOC Ventoux was created with the aim of bringing together the wines influenced by the highest mountain in Provence, Mont Ventoux. It was originally called Côtes du Ventoux, but in 2008, they decided to shorten the name to make it easier for consumers to remember. This, combined with a winemaking process more focused on quality than quantity, has given shape to a new style of exquisite wines, the result of Ventoux’s unique microclimate and soils. One of the pioneering winemaking families in this denomination is the Chaudière family.
