Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano 2015 - Tenuta Tignanello

Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione is produced exclusively from the finest Sangiovese grapes in the eponymous vineyard located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The vines grow at an altitude of about 300 metres above sea level on soils rich in limestone with a good amount of clay. The wine is aged in the historic cellars in the Badia (Abbey) of Passignano, which dates back to the 10th century. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano is an excellent example of what the Sangiovese can accomplish on this type of soil. Here, the flavours are darker and richer, while at the same time the wine has a level of resonance and textural breadth that distinguishes it from the more linear wines that Antinori produces in the Tignanello vineyard. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spices and menthol notes blend beautifully to give this wine an intensity, breadth and incredible complexity. Impressive!
