Heavy duty 5mm steel: made from 5mm (0.20in) S235 structural steel with a silver galvanised (zinc) finish, a rigid bracket intended for connections in load-bearing timber structures. Concrete-in fixing for a permanent anchor: the 18mm (0.71in) ribbed steel spike, 200mm (7.87in) long, is set into fresh concrete and keys in as the concrete cures, giving a single fixed connection between the post and a new footing. L-shape design that keeps timber off the ground: a single upright fixing plate, 90mm wide x 135mm high, with a flat 90 x 90mm seat holds the post above the footing, clear of standing water and soil contact. Ready to fix: the post is fixed to one face of the bracket through three pre-drilled 11mm (0.43in) holes, suited to 10mm (0.39in) wood screws or 10mm coach screws. Declared load capacity: CE marked under a European Technical Assessment, with a vertical load of 29.3 kN on the timber side and 57.3 kN on the steel side; horizontal 5.3 / 2.2 kN parallel and 12.2 / 1.8 kN perpendicular to the fixing axis, for a complete connection made with one bracket. Reaction to fire: Class A1. Suited to outdoor timber structures: fence posts set in new or replacement concrete footings, pergola and gazebo uprights, carport, shelter and canopy posts, decking and terrace support posts, and garden structures such as play equipment. Simple to set: place the spike while the concrete is still wet and workable, check the upright plate is vertical and in line with the post, allow a gap of up to 50mm (1.97in) between the concrete surface and the underside of the bracket, and let the concrete cure fully before loading the post.
