DIYUK Yellow Zinc Plated Torx Wafer Head Structural Timber Screws, Self-Tapping, 80mm, Pack of 10

Broad wafer head for stronger holding power: the wide bearing surface spreads clamping load for high pull-through resistance, so there is no need for a separate washer and no requirement to sit fully flush the way a countersunk screw does. Long-lasting and easier to drive: the yellow zinc-plated finish gives general-purpose corrosion resistance for damp outdoor timber, while the wax topcoat reduces driving torque for a smoother, faster fit with high-torque impact drivers and screw guns. Self-tapping for a clean fit: a sharp point helps prevent the timber splitting on entry, cutting notches along the lower thread slice through the wood, and a reaming cutter beneath the head clears shavings so the wafer head seats firmly without pre-drilling in most softwoods and general structural timber. Suited to structural timber projects: decking subframes and boards, timber framing and carcassing, fencing and pergolas, joists and rafters, and heavy landscaping timbers or railway sleepers, where a strong, gap-free fixing matters more than a flush finish. Pack of 10 80mm screws at a constant 6.0mm gauge, approximately 13.0g each, with a partial thread that draws the two timber sections tightly together as it drives, closing any gap for a strong, secure joint. Manufactured to EN 14592:2008+A1:2012, the harmonised European standard for wood construction screws: this gauge carries a characteristic tensile capacity of 12.83kN (2,884 lbf) and a zinc coating of at least 5 microns for corrosion durability, driven with a secure, slip-free TX30 Torx bit.
