Manufactured and independently tested to EN 14592:2008+A1:2012, the harmonised European standard for wood construction screws: carbon steel with a yellow zinc-plated finish and a wax topcoat gives general-purpose corrosion resistance plus a smoother, faster drive with high-torque impact drivers and screw guns, even at the longer lengths in this range. Self-tapping for clean entry into timber: a sharp point starts the screw straight and helps prevent splitting, cutting notches along the lower thread slice through the wood as it drives, and a reaming cutter beneath the head clears shavings so the wafer head seats firmly, without the need for pre-drilling in most softwoods. Wide wafer head for high pull-through resistance: the broad bearing surface spreads clamping load over a larger area, so there is no need for a separate washer and no requirement for the head to sit fully flush the way a countersunk screw does, while the partial thread draws the timber sections tightly together for a strong, gap-free joint.
