England, My England is a collection of short stories published by D.H. Lawrence. Between 1913 and 1921, various pieces were initially written, many of them against the backdrop of World War I.Most of these versions were printed in periodicals or newspapers.Later, Lawrence chose ten and thoroughly rewrote them for the book England, My England.Thomas Seltzer in the US released this on October 24th, 1922.Martin Secker released the first UK edition in 1924.An Englishwoman is left with her husband's parents while he is away at war.She receives a letter addressed to her husband from his mistress.The translator leaves out that the woman and her child are coming to England, and tells him also what he told the man's wife.A young boy is adopted by a family that is without any male children.The boy, now a young man, visits the patriarch of the family when war breaks out.He asks the father for the daughter's hand in marriage, even though she is old enough to be his mother.Samson and Delilah tell t
