Developed in collaboration with 112dB.com, the Erica Synths Steampipe is all about physical modelling, or more specifically: Karplus-Strong string synthesis. That means that instead of classic sawtooth waveforms and filters, you'll basically be using extensive delay lines to create the sound of plucked strings or, with a tweak or two, convincing wind instrument sounds. The Erica Synths Steampipe There aren't many physical modelling bits of kit out there, let alone units that offer polyphonic sound. The Steampipe, however, has an eight-voice polyphony. What's also pretty sweet is that it comes with a fat reverb effect that, combined with the internal sound engine, is perfect for generating washy soundscapes.
