Finca Antigua Merlot 2020

Finca Antigua Merlot is a red wine from La Mancha prepared by Finca Antigua, a winery founded by the Martinez Bujanda family in 2003. This is the fifth and final winery of the family as they manage 4 other wineries (Finca Valpiedra, Viña Bujanda, and Bodega Finca Montepedroso and Bodega Cosecheros y Criadores). The climate in La Mancha is characterized by extremely continental and freezing winters and very hot summers. The large seasonal temperature variation is perfect for a proper ripening of the grapes. The climate is dry because the mountains act as a natural barrier to the humid fronts coming from the sea. This wine is a varietal Merlot (100%) from Sierra de la Higuera, its own vineyard of 40 hectares is planted 855 metres above sea level, on loam soil high in calcium carbonate.
