The hardening takes place under immense pressure and heat which results in the durable and resistant outer shell this case has. This case also has a moderate amount of insulation giving your cello a bit of protection from extreme changes in temperature. The case features a padded interior which suspends the cello in the case - making bumps and knocks immaterial to your instrument.
