ABOUT - 2009 Glenkinchie double-matured in ex-bodega Amontillado cask wood for a nuttiness that rounds and deepens the sweet, grassy and dry aromas and tastes of the regular release. Part of our 2021 The Distillers Edition range. Limited quantities worldwide HOW IT'S MADE - Glenkinchie - the Edinburgh malt. The distillery is just fifteen miles from the capital, earning it the title "The Edinburgh Malt". But it’s strange to think of that dark and distinguished city when you see fields of barley or the green Lammermuir Hills rolling north towards the Firth of Forth. Stranger still when you taste the subtle, floral flavour of this rare Lowland survivor TASTING NOTES - Brisk and brittle. Complex and excellent; astonishing balance between sweet and dry. Firmer, drier notes from soft and crisp grape; sweeter, nuttier ones from malted barley and cask wood. Dry palate, after early biscuit sweetness. Enormous malt character contrasts with thin fruitiness of the grape. Very long, dry, oaky finish. Very faint peppery notes add spice HOW TO ENJOY - Glenkinchie is ideal as an aperitif, or at the start of a meal thanks to it's fragrant, light body and taste AWARDS - Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2008. It also won International Wine and Spirit Competition Gold in 2002, 2006 (Trophy & Best in Class), 2008 (Trophy & Best in Class) and 2011. It took Gold at Scotch Whisky Masters in 2008 and 2011. And last but not least, it was judged World’s Best Lowland Single Malt Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards in 2009
