Rare brown Machu Pichu F1 chillies produce a smoky, medium-hot flavour on compact plants around 80-90 cm (32-36 in) tall. Fruits set early and abundantly from July through October and dry well to intensify flavour. Sow seeds in a warm, bright spot from February-April: use 9 cm pots, place three seeds 0.5 cm deep, keep compost damp but not waterlogged and aim for about 18°C until germination. Pot on as seedlings develop, harden off for 7-14 days before transplanting, then plant 1 cm deep with 30 cm spacing between plants and rows. Annual, disease-resistant F1 suitable for pots, window sills, patios and small gardens.
