The design Minipipistrello was created in 1965 by the world famous designer and architect Gae Aulenti, who is known for her numerous artistic works in the field of architecture and design. In 1987 the designer was knighted by French President Francois Mitterand as a Knight of the Legion of Honour for her leadership in the conversion of the Gare d'Orsay in Paris into a museum.
