When their name becomes the common term for an entire category, they have achieved a status reserved for very few. And if we speak of vermouth, there is one brand that plays in that league with its own glass: Martini. Simply uttering its name conjures up images of aperitifs, in abundance, with ice, a slice of lime, and endless conversation. The story begins in 1863, in the small town of Pessione, when the entrepreneurial spirit of Alessandro Martini encounters the creative talent of herbalist Luigi Rossi. From this meeting, the first Martini Rosso was born, an aromatic vermouth, intense and with that balance between bitterness and sweetness that would set the trend. The formula was secret-and remains so-but its success was so resounding that it soon became an iconic drink.
