Mengoba Las Botas 2021

Mengoba Las Botas is a white wine crafted by Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba in Carracedelo, Bierzo, without a designated origin. Bodegas y Viñedos Mengoba was established in 2007 by the acclaimed oenologist Gregory Pérez. After his initial experiences in France (Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste and notably at Château Cos d'Estournel), his family roots-and the encouragement of a friend-brought him to Spain, specifically to Bierzo. Gregory Pérez's philosophy is rooted in the respect and sustainability of the vineyard, employing non-aggressive treatments, eschewing herbicides, working with indigenous varieties at low yields, understanding the soils, and vinifying with traditional methods. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes over 600 metres above sea level, facing south and ventilated by constant air currents. The soil comprises a mix of clay and decomposed slate, within a wooded environment rich in natural diversity. The climate in this region is mild and temperate with high humidity.
