The name of this plant is derived from its fruit, which have large woody hooks - designed to disperse seed - which can occasionally cause irritation to livestock after becoming lodged in the mouth, feet or hooves. The part used for medicinal purposes is the swollen secondary root. Each JointEeze film-coated tablet contains 300mg of dry extract from Devil’s Claw root (Harpagophytum procumbensD.C. and/or H. Zeyheri L. Decne radix) equivalent to 1050-1500mg of Devil’s Claw root.
