Any good business has the guts to create a modern and groundbreaking range. So Paul Boutinot, founder of Waterkloof, one of the most important wineries in Stellenbosch (Coastal Region), has of course done exactly that. With the desire to make real, yet affordable wines, he set up False Bay Vineyards, a project overlooking the bay of the same name that is home to many of the country’s premium vineyards. A discovery that has allowed the young and talented winemaker behind both brands, Nadia Barnard, to produce honest wines from old vineyards, each of which has a personalised label made by graphic artist and renowned illustrator Stanley Chow (who specialises mainly in images of celebrities from the world of music, television, film and sports). Peacock Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc is part of this range of innovative and avant-garde wines. With the name Peacock, this wine honours the majestic feathered bird that, thanks to the project’s organic and biodynamic initiatives, happily roams t
