A magnificent grass for a large garden. The display, however, begins even earlier in the season, when the plume-like flower panicles emerge in summer. These are initially a rich shade of red, but they turn pinkish and then silvery as they mature over the season. It's a showy grass, that can be used as a stand-alone specimen, but it will also add bit of late drama to the border. Garden care: Cut down to the ground in late winter, before the new foliage appears.
