Teso la Monja Almirez is a red wine from the DO. Toro crafted by Bodega Teso La Monja in Valdefinjas, Zamora. This winery was established by the Eguren family, who also own the renowned Sierra Cantabria winery in La Rioja. They own 92 hectares of land, with some of their vineyards being pre-phylloxera and over 130 years old, subjected to a harsh continental climate with scorching summers and frigid winters, which shape the opulent character of their wines. The land is cultivated with respect for the environment and ecosystem, applying minimal interventions when working the soil. Neither herbicides nor systemic products are used. The grapes are sourced from various vineyards with an average age of 15-65 years. Harvesting is done manually, with an initial selection in the vineyard, followed by a final selection on a sorting table at the winery.
