Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block 2019 Red Wine

The Chocolate Block is a barrel-aged red wine crafted in Wine of Origin Swartland (Coastal Region) by the South African winery Boekenhoutskloof using the varieties of cabernet sauvignon, grenache, cinsault, syrah, and viognier. Boekenhoutskloof is a winery that, although it existed as an estate in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley since 1776, underwent a significant viticultural transformation in 1993. To begin with, high-quality French varieties were promoted, and organic viticultural practices were initiated across all vineyards. Thus, under the guidance of winemaker Marc Kent, wines that appeal to a wide audience are achieved. The Chocolate Block originates from vines with an average age ranging between 5 and 40 years. These are vines planted in slate and granite soils under a Mediterranean climate with oceanic influences.
