The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne, Volume VII: Sermons Preached at Marriages, Christenings, and Churchings

Volume VII of The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne gathers sermons preached by Donne at different venues for the related liturgical occasions of marriages, christenings, and the churching of women after childbirth.The volume contains ten sermons, seven of them undated and, in the case of the christening sermons, also for parties unknown; one of the two churching sermons survives only in an authorially revised state as two separate -- but obviously coeval -- sermons. Longfellow and McCullough establish that these sermons were preached across almost the whole of Donne's preaching career, from among his earliest (ca. 1615-16) to 1627, four years before his death.
