Torbreck Vintner’s was created in 1994 with the aim of building one of the finest wine estates in the world. Wine growing started in the Barossa Valley in 1842 with the arrival of immigrants from Germany and England. They brought with them many grape varietals from Europe, particularly Rhone valley classics such as Shiraz, Viognier and Grenache. Incredibly some of these original vines have withstood the test of time and are still alive today. The Barossa now has the oldest vines in the world, some of which are over 125 years old. Today, some Barossa producers are still havesting incredibly small yields of intensely concentrated grapes from these vines; in order to produce wines of unparalleled complexity and longevity. Torbreck is one such producer. Its Rhone style old vine Barossa wines are some of the greatest in the world, a fact backed up by the high scores they regularly receive from some of the industry’s most respected judges. 77% Grenache, 15% Mataro, 8% Shiraz. The Steading has a vibrant, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and a tannin profile making it an exemplary wine.
