When growing Agapanthus in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3. Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level.
