This easy to grow annual has canary-yellow daisy like flowers with a central maroon-red ring. These flowers will open up in the morning and again in early evening, closing through strong sunlight. Ideal for adding interest and height to borders. Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a temperature of between 15-21C (60-70F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination will usually take 5-21 days. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost 30-45cm (12-18in) apart or into containers spaced 15cm (6in) apart.
