Phormium Rainbow Queen produces magnificent bronze-green colour foliage, with bright red edges and with cream stripes. Summer red tubular flowers will appear creating more colour that contracts the eye-catching foliage. Ideal for planting in borders, beds, patio containers or creating a dramatic architectural display. This hardy perennial is suitable in full sun or semi shade and will also need protecting in the cold periods and would recommend moving the plant in a sheltered position. Height: 1m (39in). Spread: 1.5m (59in). Grow Phormium on fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a protected position in full sun. Phormiums are well suited to mild coastal locations and can cope in poorer soils, but do enjoy a fertile soil - so it is well worth incorporating some well-rotted manure into the soil when planting. Feed and water regularly until fully established. Once established, Phormium need little attention, but will require some winter protection should temperatures dip much below-5C (23F).
