We use a stronger aluminum alloy (7075) than what´s commonly used and that means the Feather Weight headset can take more abuse without breaking. However, we didn´t want to use too much of it because that would add unnecessary weight. We machine away all extra material making this one of the lightest headsets on the market.But we didn´t go to extremes just to drop weight. We kept the top and bottom seals that protect the bearings from dust, water, mud and sweat. That´s in addition to the seals in the bearings themselves, which makes them double sealed. In the event that moisture does get into the bearings, we use stainless bearings so you won´t need to worry about rust.
