Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 2018

Bodegas Bilbainas, established in 1904, is a historical winery nestled in Haro, the heart of Rioja Alta. With over 130 hectares of vineyards, it stands as the largest vineyard owner in the area and boasts the oldest bottling licence in La Rioja. Known for its entrepreneurial spirit, the winery focuses on quality, controlling every aspect of production from vineyard to bottle. This 2015 Gran Reserva is a classic Rioja blend crafted from 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. After 24 months in American oak barrels, followed by a year in oak vats and three years in the bottle, the wine is ready to enjoy now or can age gracefully for another 10-15 years. It reveals layers of red fruits and liquorice, complemented by hints of spice, vanilla and tobacco. The wine pairs beautifully with vegetable and rice dishes, as well as duck, thanks to its balanced structure and complexity.
