Nintendo DS Games
The age at which a child starts playing a Nintendo DS depends on the game in question and on the child's development and interests. Many console games, whether exciting adventure games or those for learning maths, are suitable for children from the age of six. However, parents should read the age rating on the packaging of each game. In the case of games downloaded from the Internet, it is particularly important for an adult to check the ratings of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
Nintendo DS games can be played alone or with multiple players. There are two different ways to play a multiplayer game. Either it's a single-module game, where only one person needs the game and the others can transfer the data required for the game to their Nintendo DS. Or it's a multi-card game, where one game per player is required.
Nintendo DS games are easily compatible with the Nintendo DS Lite and can be played just as well on the DS Lite, available in our category “Consoles”.
You can play most Nintendo DS games on a more recent model such as the 3DS without any problems, except for games that use the GBA module slot. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way around. You can't play the new 3DS games on a Nintendo DS.
You can buy Nintendo DS games on the Internet and download them legally. In the official Nintendo Shop you will find numerous games that you can download to your DS. Some of them are free, others you buy just like regular Nintendo DS games.
If you've played through a game or got a used game, you can simply delete the save game and start over. Depending on the game, you will reset the savegame differently. In most cases, you will need to press the A, B, X, Y, and L and R keys at the same time until a save game clear message appears. For some games, you'll do this after the games have started, and for others, you'll do it before the Nintendo logo appears on your screen.
