Sports shoes
Since every sport makes individual demands on your body and different footwear is necessary due to different movement sequences in order to be able to perform exercises ideally, you need different sports shoes, like soccer boots for exercising soccer on a soccer field.
The intended use of the shoes determines factors such as profile, cushioning and texture, because it is important that your shoe is functional and meets its respective purpose and place of use.
Whether you're in the gym, weight training or jogging outdoors, each area has its own demands on your feet. A lightweight fitness shoe with a smooth sole for smooth turns is fine for an aerobics class, but outdoors on uneven forest floors you need a sturdy running shoe with grip and tread.
There are over 500 sports, so it's almost obvious that not everyone can get by with the same footwear. Whether it's football, basketball, boxing, handball or parkour, you'll find different models of sports shoes for these activities. While some shoes are particularly well padded, others have an extremely high shaft to protect against twisting. Still other variants are especially cushioned to absorb jumps (i.e. basketball shoes) or have an extremely low weight and a high grip (i.e. climbing shoes).
It is especially important that you never squeeze into sports shoes that are too small. There should be about ten millimetres of space between the end of your big toe and the toe of the shoe. At the ball of the foot and the heel, on the other hand, your shoe must fit snugly and give you a secure and stable hold.
Your foot movements as you walk and run ensure that with the square knot, the lacing is tightened with each step. With the unbalanced knot, on the other hand, each step contributes to the lacing coming loose. In the balanced square knot, there are opposing pulls within the finished knot, so the pull of the lower knot tightens the upper part of the knot.
In this type of knot, the loops fall evenly sideways. The difference in lacing athletic shoes is not even noticeable to most people due to the automated lacing process, but the effects are very effective.
It is much more effective to sand the slippery sole with sandpaper or a wire brush. Work against the direction of walking, i.e. across the sole of the shoe. There are also special brushes for this purpose, which are used by professional dancers.
Remove odor by washing them in the washing machine (gentle cycle).
Remove the smell of sweat from your shoes by freezing them (in a plastic bag)
Remove shoe odour with baking soda (leave for several hours)
Get rid of bad shoe odour with coffee (odour-binding effect)
Neutralize smell in shoes with lemon peel (natural deodorant)
Remove stink from shoes with tea bags (fresh tea bags)
If the shoes stink: cat litter (absorption of intense odours)
Sawdust against shoe smell (best to fill into socks and put into shoes)
Remove odour from shoes with baby powder (powder shoes)
Shoes stink of sweat? Soap helps (soak for several hours)
It's important to let your shoes air dry, as both the heater and dryer can cause deformation or damage.
Before you put your shoes in the washing machine, check the manufacturer's instructions to make sure you can wash them in the machine.
The sole should be flat, non-slip, abrasion-resistant and flexible enough not to hinder your child's foot movements. Make sufficient enquiries about school specifications beforehand, as some schools require sports shoes with light-coloured soles. This requirement is due to hygiene regulations that institutions must adhere to, as dark soles can damage the gym floor.
To ensure that the child's foot is continuously ventilated, it is worth choosing a shoe model with "mesh" material, as children's sports shoes made of light, breathable and high-quality textile materials are particularly suitable. The colour of the material is another factor you should pay attention to. Keep in mind that white or beige shoes get dirty easily, especially during sports.
The insoles in sports shoes are extremely important. They are especially recommended to be made of profiled genuine leather, because the inside of the sports shoes should be as flexible and elastic as possible and above all fulfil three functions:
cushion foot movements
ensure sufficient air circulation
absorb moisture
Shoelaces or Velcro? That is the question when it comes to the type of closure. Children's shoes with Velcro have many advantages, because the offspring can not only put them on comfortably, but they are also very safe. Thanks to the Velcro closure, your child won't trip over loosened laces while playing and running.
If you prefer laces, make sure you check the quality of the laces before buying. Suitable laces are usually made of polyester with high tear and friction resistance.
In addition, sports shoes should not pinch or restrict the foot. The shoe toe (toe cap) must therefore be wide enough to allow your child to move their toes freely. The heel cap, on the other hand, should be relatively stiff and high to keep the heel in the right position.
