Schüssler salts are homeopathic medicines that are designed to help regulate your body's functions. They optimize the absorption of minerals from food and can thus fill the deficit of minerals within the cells. Thus, in a homeopathic way, they can help relieve certain acute as well as chronic pains that are due to a mineral deficiency.
Schüssler salts are best known as tablets, but there are other dosage forms as well. The mineral salts are also available as powder, globules or alcoholic drops. In addition, you will also find ointments, lotions and gels for external use.

There are twelve Schüssler salts in total. These mineral salts all have a very different scope of application and are taken in different ways for different complaints.

Schuessler salts can help with very different complaints in many ways. Each salt is attributed to a central area of application of the body, but a salt often has other effects. Here you will find the different salts and their functions:
Salt No. 1 (Calcium Fluoratum) - for the connective tissue, joints and skin.
Salt No. 2 (Calcium Phosphoricum) - for the bones and teeth
Salt No. 3 (Ferrum Phosphoricum) - for the immune system and oxygen uptake
Salt No. 4 (Kalium Chloratum) - for the mucous membranes and joints
Salt No. 5 (Kalium Phosphoricum) - for the nerves and psyche
Salt no. 6 (Kalium Sulfuricum) - for the reduction/elimination of superfluous ballast
Salt No. 7 (Magnesium Phosphoricum) - for the muscles and nerves
Salt No. 8 (Natrium Chloratum) - for the regulation of fluid balance
Salt No. 9 (Natrium Phosphoricum) - for the metabolism
Salt No. 10 (Natrium Sulfuricum) - for internal cleansing

The dosage and application vary depending on the mineral salt, complaints and age. Most tablets you take individually and let them melt in your mouth, because there they are absorbed through the oral mucosa. So that the Schuessler salts are not affected by food, you should take them before or at the earliest fifteen minutes after a meal. If you need to take several mineral salts, this should happen at different times.
There is a difference in use between acute and chronic conditions. In acute cases you can take one tablet every five to fifteen minutes as an adult. For those under the age of twelve, you should only take one tablet every one to two hours, and for infants, no more than three to four a day. For chronic pain, three to six a day is recommended for adults and three to four a day for children.

You can combine the Schuessler salts with other remedies without any problems. You can also combine several of the different mineral salts, this is often even recommended. However, keep in mind that you should not take more than four salts together and that you should not take them at the same time, but at certain intervals.

How long you should take the Schuessler salts depends on you and your pain. The duration differs for acute and chronic pain. In general, however, the intake is based on the healing progress. When your symptoms are over, you can stop taking the Schüssler salts.

You can take Schüssler salts during pregnancy. Often it is even useful, for example, in preparation for childbirth and during breastfeeding. While salts 3 and 7 provide you with valuable iron and magnesium, salt number 5 helps with nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Salt number 1 is also important for your elasticity, so that the tissue can stretch.
