Marshalls Garden Hinnonmaki Red is a dessert and culinary gooseberry that produces very large red fruit and shows impressive resistance to mildew. Trained as a tree-like standard for easy picking, it offers excellent vigour and heavy crops from June to October. Plants will leaf and flower from the next spring, with a strong root network establishing over winter. Suitable for pots, patios, small gardens, borders, cottage and wildlife gardens, vegetable plots and raised beds; typically growing 1.0-1.5m. Care is simple: water regularly, apply a balanced fertiliser in spring and mulch to retain moisture, and prune annually in late winter.
