The Shimano XTR 9100 Centre Lock disc brake is made with a new ICE- TECHNOLOGIES FREEZA design. This technology used by Shimano includes a clad rotor blade with a stainless steel, aluminium and stainless steel 3 layer sandwich structure, providing improved performance in terms of heat dissipation reaching temperatures of 300 to 400 degrees. Thanks to this structure and the coating, the material cools quickly for a constant performance even on long descents. The total part weight has been reduced by 10g compared to the previous RT99 hydraulic disc brake. The Centre Lock installation is carried out through mounting from the central safety ring anchored directly to the hub with the spline teeth mount, improving accuracy and rigidity whilst also improving the effectiveness of braking.
