The Borders 8 Year Old First Release

An inaugural single malt release from Hawick’s Borders Distillery, whose 2018 opening marked the first flow of whisky spirit in the region since 1837. The distillery is independently owned and uses exclusively locally grown barley, all sourced from within 35 miles of Hawick. Their stills are large and their fermentations long, all in service of an elegant, fruit-forward spirit in the classic Lowland style. Their first single malt has spent most of its eight years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, with a Madeira cask finish adding depth and gentle spice to its rounded sweetness. One of just 10,000 bottles, presented at 46% abv without artificial colour or chill filtration.
